The Niger State Lawmakers have urged the State Government to give qualified N-Power beneficiaries automatic employment in the on-going staff recruitment exercise.
Daily Post reported that the state house of assembly took the decision after a member, Haruna, representing the Bida two constituency on the floor of the house moved the motion.
Haruna said that most of the N-Power beneficiaries have not only requisite qualifications but have gained experience as a result of the duties they carried out while undergoing the programme.
He said, “Giving them automatic consideration in the ongoing recruitment exercise would go a long way in bringing good hands on board in the state”
“This is because N-Power programme was designed to assist Nigerian youths in acquiring and developing life-long skills for becoming change-makers in the community and to address issues of unemployment.
“The dearth of manpower in the civil service over the years had been augmented by the availability of N-Power Beneficiaries. Their positive impact was particularly felt in schools across Niger state, hence the need to consider them.”
