Omotayo, the wife of prominent on-air personality, Kayode Oladotun, aka Do2dtun, has filed for divorce due to allegations of being subjected to a forced abortion, domestic abuse, and emotional abuse.
In 2013, the couple got married, and they had two kids together.
But sometime in November 2021, Omotayo filed for divorce before Justice A.I. Akobi of Court 23, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, in Suit Number: GWD/PET/25/2021, claiming that Do2dtun had subjected her to “unending reckless emotional abuse, forced abortion, and vicious domestic violence,” all of which she claimed had a negative impact on her health and general well-being.
According to court documents received by our correspondent and authorized by Omotayo’s attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Managing Partner of Law Corridor, the OAP coerced his wife into terminating her third pregnancy even as a married woman.
In the aftermath, the court ordered shared custody of the kids, which Omotayo did not object to, pending the outcome of the legal dispute.
Do2dtun, according to Olajengbesi, allegedly raided Omotayo’s Abuja home on December 14, 2022, together with a few police officers, forced entry into her property, and beat her gateman and staff.
He said, “She had gone into hiding and refused to disclose her actual whereabouts to him as he continued hauling all manner of insults on her person.”
Following that, Omotayo filed a petition with the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, alleging that Do2dtun had committed unlawful entry, malicious destruction, criminal trespass, and unauthorized use of policemen.
According to the plea, which was dated December 14, 2022 and stamped by the DIG’s office to prove receipt, the invasion left Omotayo in a “state of emotional distress and fear of imminent danger in the hands of the sefendant (Do2dtun) who remains volatile and unpredictable”.
It further said, “In view of the facts stated in this petition, we humbly request that you use your good office to conduct a dispassionate investigation into our client’s petition and cause an appropriate action in line with the law to be taken against the defendant in order to guarantee the safety of our client and for the interest of justice.
“In addition to the above, we request that the identity of the Nigeria Police Force officers who engaged in the unlawful act at the bidding of the defendant be made known to the public, and necessary action be taken against them so as to preserve the integrity of the NPF that has been painstakingly built over the years.”
