The Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Captain Alex Badeh, led a delegation to visit the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to strengthen cooperation on transport safety and accident prevention initiatives within the state.
The visit, confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by Bimbo Oladeji, NSIB’s Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, highlighted the bureau’s commitment to fostering safety through incident investigations and stakeholder partnerships.
Captain Badeh commended Governor Makinde’s dedication to infrastructural development and emphasized the critical role of safety in driving progress across sectors.
“We are here to acknowledge your exemplary leadership and to discuss how we can jointly promote a culture of transport safety in Oyo State,” he said. “At NSIB, we are dedicated to ensuring that safety remains a cornerstone of development efforts, and we believe collaborative efforts with state governments will create safer environments across the nation.”
Governor Makinde, in response, expressed his appreciation for NSIB’s proactive approach and pledged his administration’s support for collaborative initiatives.
“Your work in investigating incidents and using the findings to prevent future accidents is crucial. We are committed to working with NSIB to enhance safety protocols in Oyo State,” the governor remarked.
Makinde also underscored the importance of public education and awareness campaigns to instill a safety-first mindset among citizens. “Safety is a shared responsibility, and it requires cooperation between federal agencies and state governments to succeed,” he added
