The former Chairman of Rangers Supporters’ Club, Mr Ibuchukwu Nwodo, has expressed concern over the dwindling fortunes of Rangers International FC in the current league.
Nwodo made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday.
He charged the management, technical crew and players to arrest the team’s woeful league results and fight for a trophy.
“We did well at the first stanza but started woefully after the break and it is now affecting our position and target for the season,” he said.
Nwodo opined that the short break before the second stanza affected the players’ fitness, saying that the players were tired.
“Meanwhile, I believe the players will bounce back with the help of the technical crew and because the supporters want a win all the time, so the players do.
“In the other way round, the technical crew needs to take the players back to the drawing board so that they will come back with improved tactics,” he said.
Nwodo said that the club missed the services of two midfield maestro, Ugochukwu Ugwuoke and Shedrack Asiegbum, due to injury.
“We all know that Ugwuoke and Asiegbu had infused themselves into the system as members of the first 11.
“In as much as these players are absent for now, the club should fish out the best means of getting both home and away results.
“What the supporters want from the club is a trophy at the end of the season to compensate Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his maximum support to the club.
“Ugwuanyi will be leaving office in a year’s time and he deserved to bow out with a gold gift from the club,” Nwodo said.
NAN reports that the club occupied the fourth position with 38 points, while Remo Stars of Sagamu are third on the log with 40 points after 24 matches.
Rangers FC picked four points from the last five matches of the second stanza, winning one, drawing one and losing three.
