The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has firmly denied circulating rumours suggesting that it is selling employment slots to Nigerians.
According to The PUNCH, in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, clarified the company’s stance on the matter.
The national oil giant dismissed these allegations as baseless and described them as the deceptive tactics of fraudsters aiming to exploit unsuspecting job seekers.
He emphasized that the NNPC operates with transparency and integrity, and there is no truth to the claims that employment opportunities are being sold.
“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPC Ltd.) has called on members of the public, especially jobseekers, to discountenance rumours of employment slots for sale,” the statement read. This highlights the company’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerians are not misled by false information.
The NNPC made it clear that the rumors are part of a scheme by fraudsters to take advantage of innocent applicants.
The company expressed concern that such fraudulent activities could lead to financial losses for those who fall victim to these scams.
Soneye further noted, “The company states that there is no iota of truth in the insinuations that it has employment slots on offer to anyone who wishes to buy, describing such as antics of fraudsters who want to take advantage of unsuspecting applicants.”
The NNPC’s statement serves as a warning to the public to remain vigilant and cautious.
The company reassured Nigerians that its recruitment process is conducted in a fair and straightforward manner.
There are no hidden fees, sales of employment slots, or any form of inducement involved in securing a job with the NNPC.
The statement continued, “It cautions that as a responsible corporate entity, recruitment into the company is a straightforward process and does not involve the sale of slots or inducement of any kind.” The NNPC’s communication underscores the company’s dedication to upholding ethical standards in its operations.
In closing, the NNPC warned that anyone who engages in paying for employment opportunities within the company does so at their own risk.
“It warns that anyone who pays money to anyone for any job in the company does so at his or her own risk,” the statement concluded, urging Nigerians to disregard such malicious rumors and protect themselves from fraudulent activities.
