The Nigeria Postal Service has entered into a partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank and Ekode Mega Touch Ltd to provide training for its staff in various financial services, including agent banking, payment services, remittances, and e-governance.
According to Daily Trust, the training initiative is aimed at equipping NIPOST employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance the financial services provided by the agency.
The training program, which took place in Benin, was inaugurated by the Post Master General/CEO of NIPOST, Miss Tola Odeyemi, who was represented by Engr. Musa Suleman, the Director of Engineering and Technical Services.
Odeyemi highlighted the significant potential and infrastructure at NIPOST’s disposal but noted the need for additional resources to fully leverage these assets for the benefit of NIPOST and the nation.
Dr. Nuhu Ocheni, NIPOST’s General Manager of Financial Services, emphasized that the collaboration with Stanbic IBTC Bank and Ekode Mega Touch Ltd primarily focuses on agent banking, payment services, domestic and international remittances, as well as e-government initiatives.
“NIPOST has a lot of opportunities, infrastructure and privileges but lacks the resources to put them to maximum use. We partner Stanbic IBTC bank and Ekode who would be bringing in the resources to develop our infrastructure into maximum use for the benefit of NIPOST and the nation,” she said.
