The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast hazy and cloudy weather conditions across various regions of the country from Wednesday to Friday.
In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet projected that the northern and North-Central regions would experience slight dust haze throughout Wednesday.
For the southern part of the country, the agency predicted a hazy atmosphere with scattered clouds, alongside the likelihood of early morning mist and fog in coastal areas.
Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, and Delta States.
On Thursday, NiMet maintained that slight dust haze would persist over the northern and North-Central regions.
In the South, hazy conditions with scattered clouds would continue, with early morning fog and mist anticipated in coastal areas.
The forecast also indicated a hazy atmosphere with cloud patches in the afternoon and evening.
By Friday, slight dust haze is still expected over the North and North-Central regions, except in Kano, Katsina, Yobe, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States, where moderate dust haze is predicted.
The southern region will continue to experience hazy conditions with scattered clouds.
The agency highlighted the presence of suspended particles in the air, advising the public—especially those with respiratory conditions such as asthma—to take necessary precautions.
Furthermore, NiMet cautioned that strong winds could precede rainfall in areas where thunderstorms are likely, urging residents to remain vigilant.
For air travel safety, the agency advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for proper flight planning.
