As Nigerian Army prepares for a possible deployment to enforce ECOWAS’ return to democracy order in Niger, an old video suggesting that serving corps members can be conscripted into the army has surfaced.
The video dating back to June 2, 2021, quoted the former National Youth Service Corps Director General,Brig Gen shuaibu Ibrahim NYSC, stating that corpers can join a war during an interview with Channels TV.
“They are part of the national defence policy of this country. So when there is serious war, our corps members who are educated and knowledgeable can be trained… moulded, like soldiers,” he said.
