New fewer than 3.2 tones of cocaine, worth more than $500 million has been discovered by the New Zealand authority, floating on the sea.
According to the Country’s Police report, the cocaine was said to have been discovered by the joint efforts of the police and the country’s Customs Service and Defence, some kilometres Northwest of New Zealand.
The authority, noted that the discovery was made, based on Intelligence gathering from the five Eyes Alliance, including Australia, Canada, United States and United Kingdom.
According to the Commissioner of Police in New Zealand, Andrew Coaster, who stated that the discovery is the largest illicit drugs, discovered by the agencies in New Zealand.
According to him, the drug was meant for the whole of Australia because it will take New Zealand, up to thirty years, to consume such volume of drugs.
He said, “this is the largest find of illicit drugs by New Zealand’s agencies by some margin.
“Officials believe the drugs were dropped at a floating point, in the Pacific Ocean where they would have been picked up and taken to Australia.
“We believe it was destined for Australia, where it would have been enough to service the market for one year.
“It is more than New Zealand would use in 30 years.”
