Super Eagles stars, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, both of Nigeria, have earned spots in Whoscored.com’s Premier League Team of the Week for gameweek 14, thanks to their exceptional performances.
The team, arranged in a 4-4-2 formation, featured the duo as central midfielders, while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss occupied the wide midfield positions.
Completing the lineup were Brentford’s Mark Flekken in goal, Everton’s Ashley Young and James Tarkowski in defense alongside Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and Leicester’s Victor Kristiansen.
Up front, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku led the attack.
Iwobi, wearing Fulham’s number 17, continued his impressive form in their 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Craven Cottage.
He notched his second-ever Premier League brace, surpassing his first-season goal contribution tally for Fulham.
The 28-year-old contributed one key pass, three successful dribbles, four clearances, and six ball recoveries, earning an 8.76 rating from WhoScored and the Man of the Match title.
At the King Power Stadium, Ndidi was pivotal in Leicester City’s first win under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, as they triumphed over West Ham.
The official broadcaster selected Ndidi as the Man of the Match for his stellar display.
The Leicester number 6 delivered two successful dribbles, eight tackles, 11 clearances, and three interceptions while winning 14 of his 18 duels.
The Super Eagles teammates have often partnered in central midfield for Nigeria, with Ndidi excelling in a defensive capacity while Iwobi plays a more attacking role.
