The Mexican National Institute of Migration, has stated that it has discovered 129 migrants stuffed into the back of a cargo truck on Saturday.
According to the statement, the “migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and India” were discovered on Friday night in the eastern state of Veracruz.
The truck carrying migrants was discovered in Sayula de Aleman, where the National Meteorological Service predicts temperatures will reach 44 degrees Celsius (111 degrees Fahrenheit) on Sunday.
The migration institute reported that 51 Guatemalans were returned to Guatemala.
The remainder of the unaccompanied minors from Guatemala and Honduras were relocated to a migration station, while another 19 were transferred to a special shelter.
Every day, thousands of migrants, many of whom are escaping poverty and violence in their home countries, cross Mexico in an attempt to reach the United States.
