A gospel music management company, EeZee Concept, has issued a response to Apostle Anselm Madubuko’s press statement dated January 18, 2024, addressing the ongoing issues involving popular gospel artistes Mercy Chinwo, Judikay, and Ezekiel ThankGod, EeZee Tee.
The allegations of fraud surrounding gospel record label owner Ezekiel ThankGod Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezee Tee, have taken a dramatic twist following Apostle Anslem Madubuko’s public intervention.
The Revival Assembly Church leader disclosed his involvement in the unresolved disputes between Eezee Tee, Mercy Chinwo, and Judikay.
In his statement, Apostle Madubuko accused Eezee Tee of obstructing reconciliation efforts and defrauding the two gospel artistes during their contracts with his label.
He further noted that the financial disagreements, particularly with Mercy Chinwo, had been ongoing since 2022.
Madubuko revealed that he had taken steps to mediate the dispute by facilitating meetings and engaging independent auditors to examine the label’s finances. However, these initiatives were reportedly hindered by Eezee Tee’s unwillingness to cooperate and failure to provide critical documentation.
Mercy Chinwo, a prominent gospel artiste, alleged that Eezee Tee had withheld funds meant for her royalties while she was signed to his record label.
In response, Eezee Tee denied the accusations, claiming their contract was structured as a 50/50 partnership and asserting that he had invested over $624,000 in her career development.
Similarly, Judikay, who was signed to the label from 2019 to 2024, lodged a formal complaint against Eezee Tee in 2024.
She alleged that the label owner had misappropriated funds throughout the duration of her contract, resulting in a significant financial loss.
Madubuko also elaborated on his efforts to mediate between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee, citing a 2022 meeting at his home attended by both parties and gospel singer Chioma Jesus.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to hire auditors from OLATUNJI FANIFOSI & CO to review the financial records.
However, Eezee Tee allegedly reneged on the agreement, accusing Madubuko of being partial and refusing to provide the necessary documents for the audit. “All efforts to reach Ezekiel afterwards proved abortive, as he intentionally avoided my calls and messages. He even stopped paying Mercy her royalties for two years,” Madubuko said.
The situation has since escalated, with both Mercy Chinwo and Judikay pursuing legal action against Eezee Tee. Chinwo’s lawsuit seeks compensation for unpaid royalties, while Judikay accuses the label owner of embezzling $264,000 over the course of her contract.
Reacting to Apostle Madubuko in a statement posted on social media, EeZee Concept expressed no surprise at the Apostle’s remarks, stating, “We expected this statement and anticipate more voices from others within the gospel and church ecosystem.”
The company emphasized the role of spiritual leaders in resolving conflicts without bias, urging them to adhere to the principles of fairness and justice taught by God.
“It is important that Men of God, who hold positions of influence over followers, approach conflict resolution with fairness and without partiality,” the statement read.
Despite the challenges, EeZee Concept reaffirmed its commitment to integrity and upholding contractual agreements.
“We remain steadfast in pursuing a fair and unbiased resolution to uphold justice and maintain the integrity of our contracts,” the statement stressed
This response highlights the delicate balance required in addressing disputes within the gospel music and church community while maintaining professional and spiritual standards.
