Following a fire outbreak in Elekahia, a densely populated district in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over 200 people were displaced, with items and property worth millions of naira lost.
According to The PUNCH, it was gathered that the fire which started at about 8:30 am was caused by a kerosene explosion.
Some of the affected residents had gone to attend the festivities, while others were at work when the fire broke out.
An official with the Federal Fire Service, John Nnemeka stated that they came early but were unable to approach the area due to the make-up of the homes.
