The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, for allegedly impersonating a police officer while dressed in full uniform with a sergeant’s rank.
Collins was taken into custody on February 20, 2025, around 2:10 p.m. during a patrol operation along the Long Bridge of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations.
According to The PUNCH, the state command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, officers became suspicious of Collins’ presence in the area, prompting them to question him.
“Upon interrogation at the station, Collins was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his impersonation, raising further suspicion about his activities,” Odutola stated.
She further confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine his intentions and whether he is linked to any criminal activities.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command warns the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals posing as police officers,” she added.
