A Facebook user named Onoh Chukwuma tragically ended his life by consuming an insecticide, reportedly due to losing N2.5 million in betting.
Prior to this, Onoh posted a message on his Facebook wall indicating that it was his final day on earth and that he was going to meet his maker.
Regrettably, he had already ingested the insecticide before sharing this announcement with others.
In his post, he thanked some individuals, saying, “Today is my last day on earth! I’m going to meet my maker. Thank you Chima Anyaso, Ikukuoma Abia, Kelvin Jombo Onumah, Ekwueme Ohafia, and my friends. My spirit is with you all.”
Upon learning of his distress, acquaintances rushed Onoh to Madonna Hospital in Umuahia. Despite the doctors’ efforts to resuscitate him, he tragically did not survive.
Reports suggested that Onoh had allegedly lost N2.5 million through betting and felt unable to cope with the shame and pressure from those he owed money to.
A grieving friend shared the news of his passing, expressing sorrow over the futile attempts made by medical professionals to revive him.
Additionally, another Facebook user questioned the deceased’s decision, highlighting that Onoh possessed N1 million and borrowed N1.5 million to engage in a bet that unfortunately failed, ultimately leading to his untimely demise due to the shame brought on by his creditors.
A Facebook user, Ibeako Esther Chisom, wrote, “Onoh Chukwuma Richard, I am heartbroken. I watched the doctors and nurses giving you pressure to see if you can come back but all proved abortive and your pause dropped as the doctor confirmed you dead right in front of me and other of your friends.
“Onoh Chukwuma Richard, you really cut down the plans God has for you by taking your life by yourself. Sleep on. I am heartbroken.”
Another user, Obika James Abuchi, wrote, “U had 1m and borrowed 1.5m to play bet, it failed, cuz of the shame from debtors you took your life? Onoh who taught you this? ”
Friends have since taken to his Facebook page to send condolences.
