In a statement released on Tuesday, Governor Makinde honoured Koleoso’s legacy, recognising him as a dedicated patriot and a prominent political figure who made substantial contributions to the development of Oyo State and the nation.
He noted that Koleoso, who held the traditional title of Babalaje of Saki until his death, was among the last of a generation of influential leaders who devoted themselves to public service.
Governor Makinde extended his condolences to Koleoso’s family, his political associates, the people of Saki, and the wider Oyo State community.
He emphasised his personal connection with the late leader, stating, “People who know me are aware of the special bond I shared with Babalaje; I regarded him as a father figure and a courageous leader who was unafraid to speak truth to power.”
Makinde also highlighted the invaluable guidance Koleoso provided to the state’s administration, saying, “We have leaned on his wisdom and experience to steer our state towards progress. He remained deeply committed to the welfare of Oyo State until his final days.”
Reflecting on the loss, the governor called it the end of a “glorious era” and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Koleoso’s soul. He encouraged the people of Oyo State to find solace in Koleoso’s enduring legacy and contributions to the state and country.
