The elder brother of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Engineer Sunday Makinde, has passed away.
He died early Friday morning, January 24, 2025, at his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He was 65.
A statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, confirmed the development, quoting a family announcement by the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olumuyiwa Makinde, who is also a sibling of the deceased.
“With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde, into eternal glory on Friday, January 24, 2025. His death occurred at 3:20 a.m. in his Ibadan home,” Olumuyiwa Makinde stated.
The late Engineer Makinde is survived by his siblings, including Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as his children and grandchildren.
