Ousmane Dembele’s second-half double and goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha powered Paris St Germain to a commanding 4-1 victory over AS Monaco on Friday, keeping their unbeaten streak intact and widening their lead at the top of Ligue 1.
Before the match, PSG announced contract extensions for coach Luis Enrique, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, and Vitinha.
The defending champions made the night even more memorable with their 16th win in 21 games, bringing their points tally to 53—13 clear of second-placed Marseille, who have a game in hand.
Vitinha broke the deadlock just six minutes into the game with a precise low free kick that slipped inside the near post.
Monaco responded swiftly through Denis Zakaria, who converted Soungoutou Magassa’s well-timed pass from a tight angle in the 17th minute to level the score.
Both teams pushed for a breakthrough before halftime, but it was PSG’s latest signing, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who delivered.
The Georgian winger scored his first goal for the club in the 54th minute after a brilliant move to cut inside a defender and fire past the Monaco goalkeeper.
Dembele, Ligue 1’s top scorer, extended PSG’s lead just three minutes later after exchanging passes with Desire Doue.
The 27-year-old winger then capped off a superb performance with his 16th league goal of the season in stoppage time, putting the result beyond doubt.
PSG now turn their focus to the Champions League knockout playoffs, where they face Brest on Tuesday.
