The Lagos State Police command on Sunday disclosed that two robbery suspects were killed while exchanging gunfire with the police in the Okokomaiko area of the state on Saturday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was confirmed by the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to Hundeyin, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) from Okokomaiko received information at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday that approximately five armed criminals had entered the Airtel Communication site.
He said that the suspects broke into the communication facility on Adisa Street in Okokomaiko, bound the security guard on duty, and vandalized five Inverter batteries worth approximately N6 million that powered the mast.
Based on the report, according to Hundeyin, a police squad was dispatched to the scene.
“On sighting the police team, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel. As a result, two of the hoodlums were fatally injured, while others escaped and abandoned their operational V/Wagen LT Bus, with Reg. No. BDG-924-XZ and the with stolen items.
“The scene was photographed, corpses evacuated and deposited at IDH Morgue, Yaba for an autopsy,” he said.
