Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has come under fire for a recent statement regarding the 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience, 21st CYNDAC.
Onanuga claimed that the group has warned critics of the Calabar-Lagos Highway project to desist from undermining the Federal Government’s efforts in completing this crucial infrastructure development in the Niger Delta region.
The youth, displeased with this assertion, vehemently criticized Onanuga for his post.
The Niger Delta youth who refuted the claims @ehimaggie, stated, “Niger deltans never said this! Have you ppl finish the ogoni clean up???? You left what’s hazardous to humans to do bridge.”
Regarding the project, @uwem_ofonime tweeted, “I am from the Niger Delta, and this project, for me, is a misplaced priority considering many other Federal Roads that require urgent attention to ease the movement of goods and services from other regions to the South-South. Yet, the federal government is hell-bent on wasting money on what will not yield for more than 10 years.”
@RealQueenBee_ remarked, “Bayo! Bayo!! Bayo!!! you are still on this your fake news, lies and propaganda. At your age, you are still lying because they gave you SSA,” noting that Onanuga was spreading falsehoods.
@Onluneguru_ criticized Onanuga, stating, “So an old Yoruba Agbaya like you is the spokesperson for the Niger Delta youth.”
“The same Niger Delta youth that has been starved of development for decades. You and your master are a monumental failure,” tweeted @Onlineguru, calling Onanuga and Tinubu failures and implying that they have failed in their responsibilities.
@MAGUOWO tweeted, “This is how the coastal road will end up, with looting and lack of maintenance making the ocean take over the road in a short time!”
This comes following a statement signed by its Coordinator, Izon Ebi, and shared by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, the 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience, 21st CYNDAC, made this assertion.
The group praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the road that will run along the coastlines of the Niger Delta, describing it as a political and economic coup by the current administration.
They believe that once finished, the highway will lead to an economic surge and a revival of tourism in the Niger Delta region. They expressed bewilderment at the protests against what they view as the President’s “noble economic thrust.”
“We are forced to wonder if it’s because the project is not sited in their region or they can no more hide their hate and disdain for the Niger Delta people. We the people of the Niger Delta support the President’s noble stride, and, on this note, send clear warnings to haters of the Niger Delta to steer clear, the statement read.
