A first class monarch, the Olusin of Isanlu Isin in the Isin local Government Area, Kwara State, Oba Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede has commended Attorney General of the Federation a Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi for planning to give constitutional roles to traditional rulers.
Oba Oloyede made this commendation while reacting to the statement credited to the Attorney General of the Federation and minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, on the need to assign some constitutional roles to royal fathers, noting that the traditional institutions in Nigeria was a major stakeholder that deserves to be carried along.
The Olusin of Isanlu Isin, who is also the chairman, traditional council in the Isin local government area lauded the AGF for acknowledging monarchs as leaders that are more closer to the grassroots.
The minister had noted that the insecurity challenges facing people in rural communities would be conquered if monarchs are given the expected role to play, especially, as those who best understand their different terrains.
The traditional ruler hailed Fagbemi for the wonderful thoughts towards engaging the traditional institution in the scheme of things.
Oba Oloyede said “such idea is the type that will help in no little way to making the traditional institution relevant in the scheme of things”.
He noted that the state traditional council, under the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is giving maximum support to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration, which, according to him, has no doubt contributed immensely to the peaceful coexistence being enjoyed in the state.
