The Nigerian Army has started the operation, ‘Exercise Still Water’ in Ondo State.
According to Daily Post, the exercise is done to curb the cases of kidnapping and other criminals activities in the state during the yuletide period.
At the commencement of the operation in Owo, the central location of Owo Local Government Area in the state, Brigadier-General Muktar Adamu, who serves as the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, emphasized that the operation would serve to pinpoint and uncover locations used by criminals as hideouts.
In the absence of Brigadier-General Muktar Adamu, his representation, Colonel Jibril Garba, the garrison commander, emphasized that the operation would target and take decisive action against various criminal elements including kidnappers, armed robbers, drug traffickers, armed bandits, and cultists, among others.
He further explained that the exercise was strategically designed to counteract all forms of criminal activities, especially with the approach of the Yuletide season, and to provide a platform for tactical training and operations.
“All criminal elements operating in the 32 Artillery Brigade area of responsibility should desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Adamu made an earnest plea to other security agencies, traditional leaders, and community leaders to collaborate with the military by providing reliable and actionable information regarding security issues, aiming to enhance the safety of the state.
He said, “As we are in the ‘ember months’ which attract increased criminal activities, it is necessary to set in motion different avenues to checkmate and stop the rise in criminal activities within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.”
