The Kaduna Catholic priest, Rev Fr Gabriel Ukeh of St Thomas Parish in Zaman Dabo, Zango Kataf Local Government Area, has been freed after being kidnapped by terrorists.
His release came within 24 hours of his abduction.
The announcement of his release was made on Monday night by the Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Okafor Tochukwu, in a statement in Kaduna.
Rev Fr Gabriel Ukeh was taken by terrorists early Sunday morning from the Parish Rectory of St Thomas Parish, Zaman Dabo.
Rev Fr Okafor Tochukwu stated, “With gratitude to God, we announce the safe release of our Brother and Priest, Rev Fr Gabriel Ukeh, who was abducted from the Rectory of St Thomas Parish, Zaman Dabo, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he shepherds on Sunday 9th June 2024.”
He further mentioned that the priest was joyfully received by his parish community at around 9:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024.
The statement concluded with appreciation for the support received during the ordeal: “We acknowledge and appreciate the kind and prayerful support of all and sundry who worked round the clock to make this a reality.”
