A 43-year-old Kenyan Catholic priest has been confirmed dead a few hours after he and his lover checked into a hotel.
On Sunday, a local media outlet reported that Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, from St. Peters Ruai, was found deceased at the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga.
It was revealed that Mr. Wanjiku had checked into the hotel on Saturday evening in the company of his partner, Ruth Nduhi, a 32-year-old woman.
Based on an official police report, the female individual notified the hotel management on the morning of Sunday regarding the clergy’s symptoms of dizziness and episodes of losing consciousness.
Due to their apprehension regarding his welfare, they made the decision to promptly transport him to Kenol Hospital in Murang’a using their own vehicle.
Nevertheless, the sequence of unfortunate circumstances persisted, culminating in the pronouncement of Kariuki’s demise upon his arrival at the medical facility.
The unexpected passing has elicited doubts, prompting authorities to initiate an inquiry into the factors surrounding his demise.
“One Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku aged 43yrs old, a Catholic priest at Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer in the Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be her colleague at the workplace in Ruai,”
“Then, this morning at around 0800hrs, the priest’s girlfriend notified the hotel management that the boyfriend was dizzy and getting unconscious so that they could rush him to the hospital. They then rushed him to Kenol Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body has been sent to Mater Hospital Mortuary as police investigate the cause of death.
