Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has set up an 11-member Local Organising Committee to oversee the hosting of the 17th National Council on Environment meeting in the state.
The inauguration of the committee was carried out by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, on behalf of the Governor, noting that it marked the official commencement of preparations for the event.
Faskari said in a statement issued on Friday by his Director of Press, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, that the meeting is scheduled to beging from the 11th to the 16th of December 2023.
While explaining the primary responsibilities of the LOC, he pointed out their crucial role in coordinating with the Main Organising Committee to ascertain the number of delegates and participants expected to attend the meeting in Katsina.
The committee is equally saddle with the responsibility of securing appropriate accommodation and transportation facilities for all attendees.
Among the key mandates entrusted to the Committee are the provision of extensive publicity and ensuring adequate security measures during the event.
He listed the members of the LOC to include the Commissioner for Environment, Musa Adamu Funtua, serving as Chairman, various Permanent Secretaries from the state’s MDA, including Muntari Kado, Environment, Muhammed Rabi’u Muhammed, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Safiya Ya’u Yamel, Health – Tertiary Institution, and Mannir Talba, Works, Housing, and Transport.
Other members of the committee include Salisu Abdu, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Security, SGS Office, Kabir Amoga, Executive Director, SEPA, Isa Duwan, Director Protocol, Lawal Abdullahi, DAS, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the State, and Nura Ibrahim, SGS Office, who serves as the secretary of the Committee.
