Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has directed all political appointees to declare their assets in compliance with the Code of Conduct regulations.
According to The PUNCH, he issued the directive on Thursday during an Iftar gathering at the Government House in Kano, where he met with heads of government agencies and special advisers.
According to the governor, a significant number of appointees—between 60 to 70 percent—have yet to fulfill their obligation to declare their assets.
He urged them to promptly obtain, complete, and submit the required forms to ensure adherence to the law.
Beyond asset declaration, Yusuf emphasized the critical role of special advisers in governance, urging them to provide regular counsel and submit reports on government affairs.
He encouraged them to actively monitor state activities and offer constructive advice, regardless of whether it is positive or critical.
As part of the event, the governor also announced that 13 Hajj slots had been allocated to the heads of government agencies.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, expressed gratitude to the governor for his continued support.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Umar Ibrahim, reminded the appointees of their oath of office, urging them to carry out their responsibilities with fairness and integrity.
He called on them to remain committed to Governor Yusuf’s vision of transforming the state and improving the standard of living for Kano residents.
