Despite the ongoing nationwide strike called by the organized labour, medical practitioners in Kano State have chosen to continue providing essential healthcare services.
According to Daily Trust, the secretary of the NMA in Kano, Dr. Abdurrahman Ali confirmed that its members will not be participating in the strike.
“As a professional body, we are not affiliated with the NLC, and therefore, we will not be joining the strike.”
He assured that doctors and medical practitioners will be available at their respective hospitals, although some support staff may be absent.
While the strike has resulted in the closure of banks, hospitals, airports, and government offices across the country, medical services in Kano will continue to operate, albeit with some possible limitations.
“All doctors and medical practitioners will be on duty at their various hospitals. This may not be 100 per cent but we are not part of it.
“Of course you may go there and discover that the person to bring out your file is also away but our members are on the ground.
