The Retirees of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, have bemoaned non-payment of their entitlement for seven years, urging Governor Uba Sani to pay their retirement benefits to reduce the hardship confronting them.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Mr Bulus Kajang and Mr Emmanuel Nkom in Kaduna, explaining that the non-payment of their accrued retirement benefits for over seven years has crippled many them denying them domestic responsibilities of their families.
The statement said, “We have explored many possibilities besides making frantic efforts to see that our plight is addressed by the former Governor Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’i’s administration but to no avail.”
It stated further that the ugly situation spanned for over seven years and has turned the majority of them into beggars despite their stretched 35 years of meritorious service to the Kaduna State Government.
The statement, however, attributed the delay in payment of their benefits to the pension administrators and urged them to fulfil their obligation by paying their gratuities and placing them on their payroll.
