Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has emphasized that deploying 9,974 security guards is a strategic move to safeguard public infrastructure from vandalism.
Speaking at the passing-out parade for the first batch of security personnel at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, the governor highlighted the importance of the initiative in protecting critical facilities across the state.
He explained that the newly recruited security guards would be responsible for securing schools, hospitals, courts, and water facilities, ensuring that government investments in these sectors remain intact.
The governor said, “The personnel will be deployed under three indigenous private security companies assigned to different senatorial zones.”
Namadi noted that the initiative was introduced in response to widespread vandalism, which has led to the theft of vital materials from public institutions.
“The initiative is designed to protect the investments made in these public facilities. We have witnessed rampant destruction of these institutions by vandals who steal windows, furniture, and other essential materials in schools, courts, water projects, hospitals, among others. As a responsible government, we have taken proactive steps to prevent such losses,” he said.
Encouraging the security personnel to discharge their duties with dedication and professionalism, he reassured them of the government’s unwavering support for their welfare.
Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to safeguard public assets and ensure their long-term sustainability.
