Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, of Niger state, has expressed the plan, to provide Armoured Personnel Carrier, gun trucks and other operational vehicles, to assist the Nigeria Police Force in the battle against crimes in the state.
Bago made this commitment during the commissioning of an edifice donated to the new Police Divisional Headquarters, Chanchaga, Niger State Command.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Nigeria Police and other sister security agencies, in their dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property, across the state, the governor who expressed the commitment of his government to providing adequate security for the citizens, said the administration will not relent, in giving its best, in the area of security.
He further stated that more operatives are needed in the state, to curb criminality in every area of the state.
Governor Bago however, revealed that his government had also planned to bring succour to the families of security agents who paid the supreme price in their line of duties.
Therefore, he urged security agencies in the state to be more proactive in their duties, while urging the citizens to cooperate with them, by providing useful security intelligence, needed to carry out their duties effectively.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Ogundele Ayodeji, who also spoke during the event, assured the governor that the structure will motivate and encourage officers of the command, to serve the people better.
“We commended the governor for the support of his administration aimed at ensuring the security of lives and property in the state. I appeal for more support as security is crucial and expensive,” Ayodeji stated.
“Investing in the right equipment will secure the state and bring about the needed development,” he assured.
