The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Moses Jitoboh and retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Bola Longe.
According to reports, Longe passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, while Jitoboh died in the early hours of Friday, December 27, following a brief illness.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP described the deaths of the two senior officers as a significant loss to the Nigeria Police Force.
“Their contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, their unwavering dedication to service, and their integrity will forever be remembered. The passing of these officers is a profound loss, not just to their families but to the entire Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
Highlighting their illustrious careers, Egbetokun noted that retired DIG Moses Jitoboh served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Information and Communications Technology at the Force Headquarters until his retirement in 2023.
Similarly, retired AIG Bola Longe, who retired in 2021, served as the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State and later as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The IGP extended his heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, and colleagues. “On behalf of all officers of the Nigeria Police Force, I offer my deepest sympathies to the families of the late Rtd. DIG Moses Jitoboh and Rtd. AIG Bola Longe. May their souls find eternal rest, and may their families find comfort during this difficult time,” he stated.
Egbetokun also emphasized the lasting legacy of the two officers, urging the Force to honor their memory by upholding the values of dedication and integrity they represented.
