Israel’s military disclosed that Hezbollah had launched approximately 250 rockets across the border from Lebanon, marking one of the most intense attacks on Israel since fighting escalated in September.
Several individuals sustained injuries, and buildings in northern and central Israel, including areas near Tel Aviv, were damaged, according to Israeli police.
The strikes from Hezbollah followed an Israeli air raid on central Beirut the previous day.
Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed that 29 people were killed in the attack. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that both Israel and Lebanon were making progress toward a potential ceasefire agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia.
In response to the heavy rocket fire from Lebanon, Israeli police reported instances of debris falling in the Tel Aviv area.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that a direct strike on one neighborhood had left “houses in flames and ruins.”
Reports from Israeli media highlighted rocket impacts in Petah Tikva near Tel Aviv, as well as Haifa, Nahariya, and Kfar Blum in northern Israel.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching precision missiles targeting two military sites in Tel Aviv and its vicinity, describing the move as retaliation for the attack on Beirut.
The IDF later announced it had carried out strikes on 12 Hezbollah command centers in Dahieh, a stronghold located in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Lebanon’s health ministry revised the death toll from Saturday’s airstrike, increasing it from 20 to 29. A total of 84 fatalities were reported across Lebanon that day.
Although the IDF did not issue a statement on the Beirut strike, Israeli media suggested the operation was an attempt to eliminate Mohammed Haydar, a senior Hezbollah figure.
Israel has described its ongoing military campaign as necessary to enable the safe return of roughly 60,000 residents displaced from northern communities due to Hezbollah’s attacks.
Since October 2023, Lebanese authorities reported over 3,670 deaths, more than 15,400 injuries, and the displacement of over one million people.
The past two weeks have seen Israel intensify its operations against Hezbollah. On Sunday, Kan, Israel’s public broadcaster, citing officials from Israel and the United States, revealed that Israel had approved advancing a US-proposed ceasefire plan with Lebanon, though some issues reportedly remain unresolved.
