Authorities in Kentucky, United States are searching for a suspect who fled after a deadly shooting outside a driver’s license center in Louisville, which claimed three lives. Despite the tragedy, officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, police responded to the scene in Southwest Louisville around noon. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had died at the location.
Two women, also shot, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators have yet to identify a suspect, and no arrests have been made. The shooter reportedly fled in an unidentified vehicle.
Louisville Metro Police Major Donald Boeckman confirmed that the shooting took place outside the office.
The incident, which occurred in the Valley Station neighborhood, is currently under investigation.
Authorities shared on X that there was a “large police presence” near the Driver’s License Branch, situated off Dixie Highway just north of Interstate 265, urging drivers to avoid the area.
“It’s absolutely a tragedy, and I’m surprised that there wasn’t more people injured because many people were standing outside,” Boeckman told WHAS11 TV.
As the investigation continues, officials plan to release further details, Boeckman added.
