The Executive Director of the Concerned Youth Development Initiative, Chris Terfa-Ikpu was tragically killed by gunmen in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, on Friday.
According to The PUNCH, Terfa-Ikpu, who had recently returned to town after some time away, was reportedly targeted by the assailants who traced him to his office in the Logo area.
The attackers forced their way into the office after shooting the security guard on duty.
According to sources, the gunmen demanded to know Terfa-Ikpu’s whereabouts and one of his employees led them to his office, where they carried out the killing.
Stanley Chimin, a close associate of the deceased, confirmed that Terfa-Ikpu had been out of town for a while and had just resumed work earlier in the week.
Family members quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has since been deposited at the morgue of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.
Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, for confirmation, were unsuccessful, as her phone calls went unanswered, and she did not respond to text messages.
