Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted several worshippers from a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack occurred at dawn on Thursday while the worshippers were observing the early morning Subhi prayer.
During the assault, about 10 worshippers, including the mosque’s Imam, were reportedly taken away by the attackers.
Confirming the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said, “The command in collaboration with other security agencies are working to ensure the immediate release of all the victims.”
Rufai stated that he confirmed the attack after speaking with the Divisional Police Officer of the community.
He assured that the Nigeria Police, along with other security operatives, are making concerted efforts to rescue all the abducted worshippers.
