Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has disbanded his cabinet, emphasizing the need for fresh energy to drive his administration forward.
He made the announcement during a valedictory session at the Executive Council chamber in Uyo on Friday.
While addressing the cabinet members, the governor noted that the decision was not due to any underperformance, explaining that the current team had met expectations.
However, he expressed the need to bring in a new group of professionals to continue his administration’s work.
Eno acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing commissioners, stating, “For me, if changes were based on non-performance, none of the commissioners would be replaced. All of you have delivered, and that is why the Arise Agenda has succeeded. However, we must conclude one season, begin another, and continue to move forward.”
The governor also announced plans for a valedictory dinner later that evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, to honor the dismissed cabinet members.
It was revealed that many of the commissioners had previously served during the eight years of the Udom Emmanuel administration.
