Ghana extended their impressive run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Madagascar at Le Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima in Morocco on Monday evening.
The Black Stars delivered a well-coordinated team performance, securing their fourth consecutive victory to solidify their place at the top of Group I with 15 points.
Head coach Otto Addo made two adjustments to the lineup that dismantled Chad 5-0 in their previous outing, introducing Jerome Opoku and Abu Francis in a 3-5-2 formation. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak also stepped in for this fixture.
Ghana wasted no time asserting their intent and were rewarded early when Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey climbed the highest to guide Jordan Ayew’s perfectly-delivered free-kick past Madagascar goalkeeper Geordan Dupire and give Ghana an early advantage in the 11th minute.
The Black Stars nearly doubled their lead soon after, but a close-range strike from Mohammed Kudus was expertly stopped by Dupire.
Meanwhile, Madagascar struggled to create any meaningful chances as Ghana maintained control and dictated the pace of the game.
Nine minutes into the second half, Partey struck again, this time capitalizing on another Ayew assist.
The Arsenal midfielder added the second, heading another Ayew delivery from a corner kick to extend Ghana’s lead.
Ghana remained relentless, and their persistence paid off when Kudus found the back of the net. Kudus sealed it at 3-0 with a composed finish after being threaded through by captain Ayew.
With Madagascar unable to muster a response, Ghana confidently saw out the match, reinforcing their dominance in Group I.
The Black Stars now move closer to securing their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
