The Federal Roads Safety Corps, Sagamu Unit Command, has held a one-day workshop to sensitise drivers on road safety measures.
According to the Nation, Unit Commander, Rs2 25, Chief Route Commander, Sule Okloho, during the sensitization with the theme, ‘Speed thrills but kills’, which was held at Awolowo Motor park in Sagamu, Ogun State, disclosed that it was in the FRSC tradition to sensitise the public, especially during the ‘ember months’ on road dangers.
He admonished motorists to maintain speed limits to avoid accidents, obtain a valid driver’s licence and avoid route violations.
FRSC Deputy Corps Commander, Ayodeji Olusoga Oseni, pointed out that road accidents had been on steady increase because most drivers’ attention are often diverted from the road.
He attributed the cause of road accident to talking or texting on mobile phones.
Adegbayi further sensitize the drivers on overloading, traffic signs, safety, emergencies, road lanes, wrongful overtaking, driving on the walkway, smoking while driving and accidents.
NYSC corp members at the event inspired the participants with stage play titled ‘speed thrills but kills’ to also pass the message to the participants.
