Ahead of the Ondo State governorship election on November 16, 2024, the Federal Road Safety Corps has announced the deployment of 1,500 personnel to ensure orderly vehicular movement and public safety.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed authorized the deployment to support a secure and smooth election process, coordinating with other security agencies.
In a statement released on Thursday by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC emphasized its commitment to upholding public safety and maintaining law and order.
“As part of the preparation for the Ondo gubernatorial election, the Corps Marshal has directed the deployment of 1,500 operatives,” Ogungbemide said.
“They will work alongside other security units to enforce vehicular restrictions, clear road obstructions, and assist in emergencies.”
The deployment includes 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, and six ambulances, all strategically positioned to assist with traffic control and respond to any incidents on election day.
Mohammed urged officers to “demonstrate the utmost professionalism” and respect voters’ rights during their duties.
He warned against any misconduct that could compromise democratic rights, urging FRSC personnel to “play a constructive role in this democratic exercise.”
The FRSC also encouraged voters to comply with the temporary vehicular restrictions to ensure a free and fair election.
