Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Phyno, has revealed how he was advised to join a cult group to help his music career.
The Anambra born rapper stated this while counselling up-and-coming artistes on taking shortcuts to success.
He explained that he faced pressure during his early days as a struggling artist to join a cult or engage in rituals for a shot at quick fame and success.
Phyno added that his resilience and unwavering commitment to his craft led him to believe that hard work, determination, and perseverance were the true paths to success.
He urged young artists to resist the allure of shortcuts and to carefully evaluate record label contracts before making any hasty decisions in their pursuit of success.
He noted, “Some people look at us today and think we got it easy, Not at all.
“I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’d had songs that no one knew existed.
“A couple of friends told me to blow, I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told them the price is too much. I’ll never do”. such.
“I believed in myself and the power of hard work, I started little and today I thank God.
