Five individuals, including four young men and a young woman, were discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in Afashio Community, Uzairue, located in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to The PUNCH, the tragic discovery was made last week when family members, concerned by the prolonged silence from the victims, checked the room where they had gathered and found them lifeless.
A source within the community suggested food poisoning as the likely cause of death, as no visible injuries or signs of assault were found on the victims.
The group included two brothers and three friends, one of whom was female.
The incident was promptly reported to the Jattu Police Division. Edo State Command spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the tragedy, stating, “The Command is aware of the situation. An investigation to determine the cause of death is ongoing.”
Family members are anxiously awaiting answers as authorities work to uncover what led to the untimely deaths of the five young individuals.
