The Federal Government has commenced urgent repairs on a deteriorating 7-kilometer portion of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a vital route that has suffered prolonged neglect.
According to The PUNCH, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji, the government reiterated its commitment to addressing critical infrastructure challenges that have severely impacted commuters.
“The road has been in poor condition for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works, in collaboration with the concessionaire, is working to bring relief to the affected areas,” Orji said.
This initiative forms part of the wider ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ campaign, which seeks to improve the state of federal highways across the country.
“The Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is dedicated to easing the burden on motorists and commuters nationwide,” the statement added.
Orji acknowledged the long-standing frustrations of road users who have dealt with extended travel times and safety concerns due to the road’s poor condition.
“With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smoother and safer transit for the thousands who rely on this essential route daily,” he concluded.
