The former Super Eagles and Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, has made a notable return to English football by signing with Luton Town in the Championship on a free transfer.
This move comes after Moses’ recent stint with Spartak Moscow, which concluded earlier this summer.
At 33, Moses brings a wealth of experience to Luton Town. His career is best remembered for his crucial role in Chelsea’s Premier League title-winning campaign under Antonio Conte during the 2016-2017 season.
Moses was integral to that success, contributing significantly to the team’s achievement.
Luton Town’s manager, Rob Edwards, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition.
He remarked, “We think he’s someone who can provide some really good competition for us.” This is particularly important for Luton, who are currently enduring a challenging season in the Championship, having only garnered one point from their first four matches.
Moses, who began his professional career at Crystal Palace before moving to Wigan Athletic in 2010, has already begun to settle into his new environment.
He participated in a closed-door friendly last week, indicating his readiness to contribute to the team.
Despite receiving several offers from European clubs, Moses expressed his commitment to staying in England.
“I had a few offers from Europe, but I said to my agent that I set my mind on staying over here, and here we are. I’m very pleased and honoured to be at this club and I just can’t wait to get going. I want to come here and enjoy my football, work hard for the club and for the team, and get back to where we belong in the Premier League,” he stated after signing his contract.
Moses may have the opportunity to make his debut in Luton’s upcoming match against Millwall this weekend, a crucial fixture as Luton looks to reverse their fortunes in the league.
