A former Senate Majority Leader and prominent political figure, Jonathan Zwingina, has reportedly passed away.
Known for his influential role as the Director-General of the MKO Abiola Campaign Organization during the historic June 12, 1993 presidential election, Zwingina was a key player in Nigerian politics.
Though his family has yet to release an official statement, Leadership Newspaper has reported that the veteran politician from Adamawa State died on Wednesday, October 2, at the age of 70.
His death occurred in Abuja, following a prolonged battle with illness.
Zwingina, who once represented the Adamawa South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
However, in later years, he made a significant political shift, joining the All Progressives Congress
His defection to the APC marked a turning point in his political career, reflecting the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s political landscape.
