Spain’s Marc Cucurella is eyeing the Euro 2024 final against England with hopes that his Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer remains on the bench.
Cucurella, who has been a key figure for Spain throughout the tournament despite a challenging season at Chelsea, expressed his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated clash.
“I spoke with him over a week ago during the earlier rounds,” Cucurella revealed to Mundo Deportivo. “For me, it’s better if he doesn’t play and stays on the bench.”
Spain has been in exceptional form, entering their first major final in 12 years as favorites.
Reflecting on their journey, Cucurella emphasized the team’s confidence. “If we maintain our level, we have a good chance of winning,” he confidently stated.
Despite his stellar performances, Cucurella faced unexpected jeers during Spain’s semi-final victory over France, which he attributed to neutral fans. “Initially, it was confusing, but then I understood the situation,” he remarked.
Looking ahead to the final, Cucurella’s girlfriend playfully mentioned a bet involving dyeing his hair red if Spain emerges victorious. “I can’t play a final with red hair,” Cucurella quipped, already planning a creative solution.
As Spain prepares for the final showdown, Cucurella remains focused on contributing to their quest for European glory against England.
