A three-day manhunt for a fugitive inmate in the United Kingdom has ended with his arrest.
Jamie Cooper, 33, escaped from a prison transport van on Wednesday morning while it was traveling on the M55 motorway near Catforth, Preston, en route to Lancaster Magistrates’ Court, according to Lancashire Police.
Authorities tracked Cooper down in Blackburn on Saturday afternoon after stopping a vehicle that had traveled from Bolton.
He was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody.
Lancashire Police shared an update on Facebook, stating, “Over the last few days we had asked for your help to find wanted Jamie Cooper who absconded from a prison van on the M55 near Preston.
“To update you, Cooper, 33, was found in Blackburn this afternoon after a car which had travelled from Bolton, was stopped by officers.
“He was arrested on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody and is now in custody.”
The police expressed gratitude to those who helped spread the appeal during the search.
