Eric Chelle has been officially introduced as the new head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Monday during a press conference held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation had confirmed Chelle’s appointment the previous Tuesday, making him the 42nd coach to take the reins of the national football team.
Chelle, a former Mali international, will be tasked with steering the Super Eagles through the challenging 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Nigeria currently sits in fifth place in Group C with just three points from four matches and has yet to secure a victory in the qualifiers.
The 47-year-old coach is also expected to guide the home-based Super Eagles in the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
