Ismaila Sarr celebrated his 27th birthday in style, netting twice to inspire Crystal Palace to a commanding 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Tuesday.
The result dealt a setback to Villa’s pursuit of Champions League qualification.
With this win, Palace climbed to 12th place on the table with 36 points from 27 matches, while Villa slipped to 10th with 42 points from 28 games.
Palace were in control for most of the contest, securing only their third home victory of the season.
Their attacking prowess was on full display, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah also getting on the scoresheet.
Villa found the net twice, but both efforts were ruled out for offside. Struggling to create meaningful chances, they could only manage a consolation goal through Morgan Rogers.
