The Presiding minister of the Christ Apostolic Church, Liberty Centre, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, Prophet Abiodun Ogungboye has called for prayers for Nigerian leaders noting that what the country need are prayers and word of God not prophecy to overcome our challenges
The cleric made the call during a programme with the theme, ‘Nigeria Needs Prayers and not Prophecy’, in Ado-Ekiti, ahead of the church’s annual 100-hour event slated for between August 14 and 20, adding that, “People should endeavour to always pray for the leaders to always do what is right.”
Ogungboye also urged religious leaders to desist from the declaration of prophecies, which, according to him, were unsettling the nation, but to focus on playing their role with prayers for the development of the nation.
The cleric said, “What is important is the impact you make in the lives of the people not the position. I want our leaders to know that they will be assessed based on the contributions to the wellbeing of the people they are leading.”
“Nobody can forget the impact and contributions of the Chief Awolowo, the late Nnamdi Azikwe and the late Tafawa Balewa. I passed through a place recently where people were saying a particular bridge was constructed during the time of Awolowo. This is so encouraging.
“Let our leaders do things that will make life comfortable for the citizens, and make us live in peace, that is what people will continue to say after they might have left this world.
“As regards what we are passing through in the country, it has happened in the Bible, but all those prophecies before and after the elections is not what we needed in the country today.
“We need prayers, word of God and not prophecy to overcome our challenges. We have so many religious people in position of authorities and yet we have challenges. Let the president be prayerful to be able to do what the people actually want,” he added.
