At least eight people on Monday escaped death in Anthony inward Ojota area of Lagos.
In a statement by the director, public affairs and enlightenment department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq said the accident involved a broken down truck with a fully loaded mass transit bus with registration no KTU 850 YD.
According to the statement, the driver of the fully loaded commercial mass transit bus was on a top speed and lost control due to brake failure after noticing a broken down truck ahead of him.
The statement reads in part” Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) today (Monday,7th of August, 2023) in less than 24 hours rescued another 8 accident victims at Anthony inward Ojota, Lagos.
“Lastma Popoola Olushola ‘Commander’ (Kilo) who led the rescue team disclosed that the accident involved a broken down truck with a fully loaded mass transit bus with registration no KTU 850 YD.
“Lastma Popoola disclosed further that prilimnary investigation revealed that the driver of the fully loaded commercial mass transit bus was on a top speed and lost control due to brake failure after noticing a broken down truck ahead of him.
“He confirmed that Lastma Officials rescued 8 injured accident victims (2 males and 6 females).
“Immediately after the accident happened, Lastma Officials with support from Police men from Anthony Police Command quickly intervened and rescued 8 injured victims among those passengers inside the commercial mass transit bus.
“Rescued 8 accident victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
“The General Manager Mr Bolaji Oreagba while sympathizing with injured accident victims however enjoined motoring public particularly commercial bus drivers to be extra careful and ensure that the road is clear ahead and behind before over-taking on expressway across the State.”
